Dice, an Electronic Art Inc. studio, announced Battlefield 1943 for Xbox live on july 8th. Battlefield 1943 is an all new download only action game that brings DICE’s first-class WWII action to gamers for just $15. Battlefield 1943 is a sequel to the original Battlefield title, Battlefield 1942. Battlefield 1942 is a 3D World War II first-person shooter (FPS) computer game developed by Swedish company Digital Illusions CE and published by Electronic Arts. The game can be played in single player mode against computer game bots or in multiplayer mode against players on the Internet or in a Local Area Network.
Battlefield 1943 is a multiplayer-only game set in the Pacific theater of World War 2. You will join teams, either the US or the Japanese, with up to 12 people on either side. You will also choose from 3 different classes, each with their own specialties. From here the game plays out as a first person shooter, with the important addition of vehicles, letting you jump into any tank, plane or jeep that you come across. The game takes place during World War II in Pacific locations, and uses the Frostbite game engine that EA DICE developed for Battlefield: Bad Company. The new engine brings terrain and building destruction, impressive smoke effects and much higher level of details than “Battlefield 1942″
The game has only three maps at launch (a forth will be coming when a certain global kill count is reached). The other issue with this game is that a number of people that have purchased and downloaded Battlefield 1943 are complaining that they can’t get an open slot to play the game. This is a real problem for Battlefield 1943, as the game has no single player mode. It is either multiplayer or nothing..
