The PSP is a unique device, it’s a handheld gaming console, its a PMP (portable media player), a Remote access device to the PS3 and much more. The last update also enabled users to use Skype on their PSP. A new update is on its way and this one is going to make life a lot easier for those who use the PSP to surf the web.
PSP v4.00 will soon be released with the feature of Google Internet search engine in the XMB(XrossMediaBar) as announced by Sony.It will be provided with the same search engine experience as www.google.com and with a search history recall of 20 items -this is no joke.
After downloading and installing the firmware ,enter keywords and the google algo’s will do the rest. You’ll need to be connected to the Internet via a wireless access point or Wi-Fi hotspot. But the PSP browser still needs some work in the page formatting. A lot of pages just don’t load right on the PSP, the ideal would be like the iPhone handles it where pages can be scaled just like an image. I am not sure this is something that can be fixed in the PSP fat, but the slim should be able to with the extra memory it has.
What I feel personally is that just having Google icon and a search engine wasn’t expected from the update. They could have done far better things like adding PS store and Div-X support, PSN access. Or even adding an JPEG support might be cool.
