Nintendo and Disney Holding Hands Under The Table?

It’s unusual to start a service for a console that’s not even officially available here. The Nintendo DS has been the hottest selling handheld this generation. Considering that Nintendo have never launched a console here officially, your friendly grey market store makes a killing on this desirable units.

The service in question is DGamer free avatar based community service by Disney Interactive Studios and comes at a time where Disney has just released The Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian.

According to Indiantelevision.com :

Gamers would be able to interact with each other through Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection and the DGamer Web site.

The service enables the user to create a 3-D avatar and a profile on the network. The company is also inviting parents to participate in this venture to keep the community safe for kids.

Is this Nintendo’s obtuse way of saying the DS Lite will be available officially here? Only time will tell.

UPDATE: Beginning of the End? MS to end 360 operations in India.
